Frequently Asked Questions
1. What type of clients do you work with?
I work with adults, young adults, teens and couples/relationships. My practice supports clients navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, parenting struggles, grief and more.
2. What can I expect during the first session?
Our first session is focused on getting to know you and your goals. I’ll ask questions about your current concerns, history and what you hope to gain from therapy. We’ll begin building a roadmap for our work together in a supportive, judgment-free and confidential space.
3. How long does therapy last?
The length of therapy varies based on your needs and goals. Some clients benefit from short-term, solution-focused support, while others find longer-term work more helpful for deeper growth. We’ll regularly check in to ensure therapy is effective and aligned with your goals.
4. Do you offer online therapy sessions?
Yes. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant teletherapy video sessions for California clients. It provides effective therapeutic treatment in a comfortable setting, both convenient and private for my clients.
5. What therapeutic approaches do you use?
I use a blend of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, Strategic Intervention, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, Family Systems and Solution-focused therapy tools. Therapy is always tailored to your unique needs.
6. Do you work with both individuals and couples?
Yes, I provide therapy for individuals, adolescents and couples. Whether you’re working through personal issues, relationship conflict or parenting/family challenges, I’ll help guide you toward clarity and meaningful change.
7. Do you offer parenting support or family therapy?
Absolutely. I support parents with communication tools, boundary-setting and problem-solving strategies, as well as can offer family sessions to strengthen relationships and improve dynamics at home.
8. Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Everything shared in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions (such as risk of harm to self or others). I’ll review these guidelines in our first session so you feel informed and secure.
9. Do you accept insurance?
I am in-network currently with Tricare/Triwest. For others I’m an out-of-network, self-pay provider. With out-of-network services, clients often can receive partial reimbursement through their insurance provider. I’m happy to provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company if you have these benefits. Please check with your provider for details about your coverage.
10. Do I have to be in San Diego to see you for counseling?
No! If you’re located anywhere in California, you can connect with me for online telehealth therapy. In addition to the San Diego area, I currently serve many clients throughout Southern California as well at the San Francisco Bay area which is where I grew up.
11. How do I get started?
Getting started is simple. Just contact me via phone or email to schedule. This is a chance for us to talk, answer any questions as well as make sure we’re a good fit. I currently have openings available.
